Sustainable Water Infrastructure Group
Sustainable Water Infrastructure Group, LLC (SWIG) is a supplier of innovative nutrient removal systems to restore and protect nutrient-impaired waters from nitrogen and phosphorus pollution. The company’s low-cost, small-footprint systems are fast to implement, easy to operate and reliably remove phosphorus and nitrogen. Systems are provided to public and private clients and can be installed in point-source (e.g. wastewater treatment plants) and non-point source locations (e.g. canals carrying runoff from agricultural areas) to intercept and remove nitrogen and phosphorus.
Technology
SWIG manufactures a variety of engineered granular media products designed for nutrient and color removal in stormwater and surface waters.
APPLICATION OF OUR SYSTEMs
The company’s patented technology is utilized within its Phosphorus Elimination System (PES) and Organic Nitrogen Elimination System (ONE) systems. The PES and ONE systems can be combined or used independently. In addition to N and P, the systems can also remove suspended solids, metals and fecal pathogens.
projects
The company has completed a number of projects using its systems to treat point source and non-point source water. In a project funded by the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD), SWIG installed its Phosphorus Elimination System (PES) at the Clay County Utility Authority’s (CCUA) Fleming Island Regional Wastewater Plant south of Jacksonville, Florida. The 46,000 square foot system was permitted, built and fully operational within 6 months (during the Covid-19 pandemic) and treats flows greater than 2 million gallons per day (MGD).
